Andreessen Horowitz Raises $2.2 Billion Cryptocurrency Fund
Andreessen Horowitz has raised a $2.2 billion cryptocurrency fund, expanding its digital asset investments as the venture capital industry continues to revive interest in the sector.
The new fund brings the firm’s total cryptocurrency capitalization across five funds to approximately $9.8 billion, solidifying its position as one of the largest sources of venture capital capital in the sector. The raise comes against a backdrop where smaller funds face challenges attracting committed capital and as token prices remain well below their previous peaks.
The company said it plans to invest in projects that connect cryptocurrencies with traditional finance and artificial intelligence, but provided limited details on strategy, targeted returns or investor support. Andreessen Horowitz promoted chief technology officer Eddy Lazzarin to general partner to help lead the next phase of investing.
