The macro shift triggered a comprehensive rebound in crypto assets. Bitcoin soared by more than 20% in three days, the largest increase since 2023
On Monday, Bitcoin and cryptocurrency-related stocks continued last week's gains. The flagship cryptocurrency broke out of its previous trading range and continued to move higher as investor concerns over inflation and fiscal deficits intensified.
The price of Bitcoin rose more than 1% that day, approaching the US$80,000 mark, touching this level for the first time since May; Ethereum rose 2% to about US$2,470, close to a stage high since January.
Cryptocurrency holding concept stocks followed the rise of blue-chip crypto assets. Strive climbed 8%, Strategy (MSTR.US) rose 2%; Ethereum holdings Bitmine and Sharplink rose 5% and 4% respectively.
The market is paying attention to whether this rebound marks a turning point in Bitcoin’s trend. Bitcoin prices have been sluggish since October last year and are currently in a window of seasonal strength. BTIG analyst Jonathan Klinsky pointed out in a report on Monday that Bitcoin had a similar trend in January 2023 - it surged by about 20% in three days and broke through the downward trend line, but then the increase subsided and fell back to the 200-day moving average before finding support.
