Bitcoin returns to $82,000 mark: ETF funds turn sharply positive in a single week, SEC tokenization exemption lights up sentiment
Bitcoin once rose to $82,078 during Asian trading on Monday, continuing last Friday's more than 6% gain, and was less than $200 away from a four-month high. The U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF attracted a total of approximately US$593 million in the two trading days on Thursday and Friday, which offset the heavy redemptions in the previous two days and brought the full-week capital account back to a positive value from the edge of net outflows. It barely recorded a net increase of approximately US$6 million throughout the week.
This round of emotional recovery occurred after a week of "serious injuries" to digital assets - the landmark encryption bill failed in the Senate and the Federal Reserve raised interest rates for the first time in more than three years. The turning point came last Thursday: the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) gave the green light for "digital securities" to begin trading in the United States.
Bitcoin would hit a four-month high if it rose above the $82,266 hit on September 4. The shift in sentiment comes after a tragic weekend when a landmark U.S. crypto bill failed to pass and the Federal Reserve raised interest rates for the first time in more than three years. The SEC on Thursday allowed digital versions of securities to be listed and traded in the United States, helping market sentiment pick up.
