Bitcoin rises to nearly $83,000 as falling oil prices boost market sentiment
Bitcoin edged higher on Monday after rebounding after falling for two consecutive weeks, as a fall in global oil prices gave risk markets some breathing room.
As of 2:00 a.m. Eastern Time (14:00 Beijing time), Bitcoin, the world's largest cryptocurrency, rose 1.3% to $82,783.1, after falling about 2% in the previous two weeks.
In the past month, Bitcoin has fluctuated within the range of $80,000 to $87,000. A series of negative factors such as the surge in Treasury bond yields and the plunge in technology stocks have continued to suppress market sentiment and triggered capital outflows.
On Monday, other cryptocurrency prices also generally rose, but with limited support, the overall pattern remained range-bound.
