Binance was hacked, and $6.3 billion in assets was suspected to have been stolen! The recovery of Bitcoin and the crypto industry faces a test

On Friday (October 30), Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency trading platform, exposed a major security incident, which was initially estimated to involve the security of approximately US$6.3 billion in assets, triggering market concerns about digital asset security and industry trust. Bitcoin once fell to around $76,500, Ethereum fell to $2,175, and Binance Platform CoinBNB fell to $680, and the recovery of the encryption market was hit again.
Binance’s preliminary investigation revealed that a DevOps engineer’s laptop was suspected of being hacked, allowing the attacker to gain access to the server and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. Binance stated that it has not found evidence that the wallet private key has been leaked, and has temporarily suspended asset deposit and withdrawal services, and promised to use the Asset Security Fund (SAFU) and its own funds to make up for the losses. Binance founder Changpeng Zhao issued a statement saying that he expected users to receive full compensation.
When the Binance incident occurred, the prediction market platform Polymarket also temporarily stopped trading on the international platform for about an hour due to the invasion of a third-party service provider, and promised to compensate affected users. There is currently no evidence that the two incidents are related.
